WHAT: An important and provocative free exhibition highlighting the changing face of Athens urban landscape.
Hellenic Branch of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, in collaboration with the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, presents the exhibition “Artists in Athens-City of Crisis”.
Following its initial run in Berlin’s Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in June, the Greek public can now see this vital show at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation
Even at a time of economic and political crisis, the Athens art scene continues to attract the attention of both the media and publishers. Street art is a great part of this art scene, with the economic crisis having for a long time been depicted in the city’s structure.
Combined, closed stores, abandoned buildings, street corners “housing” the homeless, sidewalks transformed into substance abusers hangouts, make up the new Athenian urban landscape.
14 artists, 5 women and 9 men, 24 to 72 years old, research and express themselves through photography, visual works, video installations, making their own, more or less explicit, political and artistic statement.
*All revenue from the sale of the catalogue will be distributed to the Doctors of the World / Médecins du Monde
