WHAT: Get on your bikes Athens! This weekend is all about two-wheels as the city celebrates Athens Bike Weekend with a series of high-octane events such as the 24th Athens Bicycle Round (a 13km route for cycling enthusiasts, racing teams and professional athletes), a 3.5km children’s race and the 1st Athens International Criterium, an international high-speed race, which will feature teams and athletes from all over Europe.
The 1st Athens International Criterium, a 3.5 km race, aims to offer a unique spectacle, with cyclists racing on high speeds.
Starting at 11.30 am at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Amalias Avenue, athletes will race through the capital’s central avenues to reach the finish line one hour later.
Parallel events will take place throughout the Athens Bike Weekend at Syntagma Square, including a bicycle exhibition organized by MBike. Children and adults will have the opportunity to learn more on the latest bicycle trends and enjoy their ride in the city center.
Organized by the Athens Municipality’s Cultural, Sport & Youth Organization (OPANDA), the Athens Bicycle Round attracts the interest of thousands of Athenians and visitors each year.
WHEN: Sunday, May 7. (The start of the 3.5 km route for children and persons with disabilities is set to begin at 10.15am at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Amalias Avenue. The starting time for the Criterium is 11.30am.)
