The 8th Athens installation of the world-influencing TEDx series – on May 13 – invites us to contemplate a new frontier for humanity by exploring the “edge” with a line-up of speakers who will share their personal tales about seeking their own limits.
Do we live on the edge of the unknown? In a global reality characterized by uncertainty in politics, economy, even society itself, emotional and personal belief seem to be more influential in shaping public opinion than objective facts.
Are we heading further away from what was once perceived the middle or are we in the forefront of a brand-new beginning?
While the economy turns introvert, the rising of wellbeing expands our understanding on human nature. Where science & technology never stop triggering the imagination, re-emerging beliefs challenge our perception. When exploring new planets, we struggle with sustaining our own.
Speakers include technology investor Christian Hernandez, explorer and ocean rower Olly Hicks ( the only person to row single-handed from America to England), author and journalist David Patrikarakos, Professor of Health Policy at the University of Zurich Effy Vagena, Government adviser on security Tom Gash and poet and translator Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke.
The 8th TEDxAthens will be held at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, May 13, in three separate areas: the main stage of the SNFCC, the Book Tower of the Library and the Donors Lounge of the Opera House.
