WHAT: An artistic collaboration between Greece and Italy that explores the linguistic exchange that has taken place over the centuries. More specifically, the exhibition, curated by Orasi Art, looks at the word “Oistros” and its multiple cultural definitions (inspiration, gadfly, mammalian ovulation). On another level, Oistros can be seen as a passage across the Mediterranean or as a journey of artistic exploration.
Estro – The Travel of Oistros was first staged successfully in Bologna, Italy, in March 2016. The artworks consist of installations made by the AFI Collective, a group of eight artists based in Greece who have been working together since 1979, to break down the boundaries between fine arts and crafts.
The exhibition venue is houses in an abandoned neoclassical, multi-storey building in Kerameikos that has been entrusted to Communitism, a group of young people who aim to develop the space into a centre of cultural interaction between Greek and international artists.
