WHAT: The perfect solution for those fascinated by the ancient works of Plato, Aristotle and Homer and their brainy ilk, but who can also find them a little daunting: Free theatrical performances of the works of these famed writers of Greek antiquity are now being carried out by talented young actors in a simple and understandable manner at select archaeological sites and monuments across Athens. Dubbed, “The Stones Speak”, the theatrical initiative was launched by the Athens – Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association, in a bid to introduce visitors to Athens to the ancient Greek writings while also showcasing the city’s renowned archaeological sites and monuments.
WHEN: The theatrical performances will take place daily (11.00-13.00 & 17.00-19.00) in three languages — Greek, English and French — from September 10th to October 10th.
WHERE: Various venues in central Athens. Visit HERE for a full list of venues and shows.
